A group of ten convicted of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of disseminating false claims regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to posting hurtful comments about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.
The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A circulating unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the United States against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's gender.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.
The two entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
